White Supremacists led by racist Richard Spencer appeared in Charlottesville this evening.
They met at the foot of Charlottesville's Robert E. Lee statue according to Richmond.com. At 8:00 PM EST, the three dozen or so people who joined Spencer chanted, "we will be back," according to NBC 29. Spencer called the meeting 'Charlottesville 3.0'. Spencer released a video of his hate rally on Twitter, which he called a 'great success'.
At this rally, however, the Lee statue was draped in black following a decision by Charlottesville City Council. An effort to remove the statue and one of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson is currently on hold while a lawsuit is being heard. In a tweet, Mayor Mike Signer called the rally "another despicable visit by neo-Nazi cowards," adding, "You’re not welcome here! Go home! Meantime we’re looking at all our legal options. Stay tuned."
