The winery President Donald Trump boasted in August was "one of the largest in the United States", owned by his son Eric Trump, has petitioned the Department of Labor to hire more foreign workers. This in spite of the president's push for companies to hire more American workers.
The Trump Winery has had a long history of hiring foreign workers in the past. Last December, it applied for visas for six workers and for 23 more in February.
According to the petition, workers will be paid $11.27 per hour.
The latest petition didn’t provide the working conditions, but the winery previously required workers to endure cold temperatures while “on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time.”
Trump has repeatedly asserted that he will bring jobs back to America, even though his own businesses have been known to use foreign labor.
[W]hen asked about hiring foreign laborers to work at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Trump said it’s “almost impossible” Americans would want to fill those jobs.
